Pollyanna McIntosh
Pollyanna McIntosh was born in Portugal
and Colombia She was born in Colombia and Portugal, but she later moved to
Scotland and began to perform on stage during The Edinburgh Festival. At 16 she
moved to London, where she soon became involved in filmmaking in the indie
genre. (Her first professional gig on The Acid House was as an actor with
Irvine Welsh (1998)). She's also been involved in theatre, both as an actor and
director. Moving to Los Angeles in 2004 led to more theatre. She directed Anne
Dudek (a regular star on Mad Men/Big Love (2006)) as and David Dayan Fisher (a
regular part in 24 (2001/NCIS 2003)) to great reviews. In Headspace (2005) the
actress landed her first US film role as "Stacy", a manipulative
woman who is a born again Christian. The role was later recast as "Thumper
Wint", a rebellious, born-again Christian in Sex and Death 101 (2006)
(Simon Baker/Winona Rider), by Heathers (1988). The reviewers were awed by her
distinctive combination of sensuality and irreverent humor. In both LA and
London, Exam (2009) was her next project, nominated by BAFTA for Outstanding
British Debut and winner of Best Independent at the Santa Barbara Film Fest,
the film's critics noted Pollyanna's performance was "smart, sassy and
sexy at the same time. ....the emotional center of the film" and praised
her ability uncover the "emotional vulnerability" of her seemingly
powerful and tough character. GQ simply stated that Pollyanna McIntosh was a
stunning actor and "extraordinarily skilled actor". Como Quien No
Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! She plays the role of Trevor
Lock, a disgruntled Brit comedian. She speaks Spanish throughout the film, that
was shot in Peru. John Landis directs Burke and Hare (2010). She plays Isla
Fisher's friend, as well as Andy Serkis and Jessica Hynes and Tom Wilkinson.
Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011), which she played the main role , was praised by
critics at Sundance 2011. It also won the New York Times' readers best movies
poll. In recognition of her performance, she won three Best Actress awards,
including Total Film's Frightfest Award and Fright Meter's.
